CrossWay Milwaukee exists because we believe God’s plan of redemption and renewal flows through the local church. We are amazed at the privilege of participating in God’s gospel mission!
God and Man. We believe in a good God who created all things. He’s powerful and mighty, and because of this, whatever he desires to accomplish will be accomplished. The Bible tells us that it is impossible to spoil any of the plans of God. This contrasts with what the Bible says about humans. Humans are finite, weak, and we tend to make a mess of everything we try to do in our own power. It only makes sense that the mess-makers would look to the Perfect One who accomplishes everything he sets out to accomplish. (Job 42:2; Ps 135:5-6; Is 46:8-11; Rom 11:36; Rom 6:23; Col 2:13)
God’s Plan of Redemption and Renewal. So, what is God’s plan? His plan relates very closely to his glory. We were created for God’s glory. God is going to fill the earth with the knowledge of His glory. When we sin, we fall short of God’s glory. Eternal death is associated with separation from God’s glory, while eternal life is associated with the knowledge of God’s glory. In other words, God is on a mission to reveal his glory to the world and this is seen in a beautiful way through redemption, the story of Jesus taking the place of sinners on the cross. But, redemption is not the end of the story, God’s glory continues to be seen in the ongoing renewal that takes place in the life a believer as they continue to draw closer to him and live in a more Christlike manner (Is 43:6-7; Hab 2:14; Rom 3:23; 2 Thess 1:9; 2 Cor 4:6; Rom 12:1-2; Col 3:10).
The Church. Here’s where it gets even more amazing for a church. God’s plan, spreading his glory through redemption and renewal, could be accomplished in a variety of ways. But, in his wisdom, God chose the church as his primary means of bringing this message to the world. The clarity with which the Bible speaks to this is astounding. The church is part of Jesus’ body. Christ died for the church. The gates of hell will not prevail against the church. The church is a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, Jesus’ possession. (Eph 3:10; Eph 5:25-32; Matt 16:18)
When you consider all of these truths, we really do feel amazed at the privilege of participating in God’s gospel mission through a local church on the south side of Milwaukee.
